Ali was introduced to Ballroom and Latin at the tender age of 5. He trained under the legendary FJT School of Dance, and became a South African champion in Ballroom dancing in his teens. He started teaching in his early teens, and became a competitve and social dance teacher in 1999 while training and competing both nationally, and internationally.

As the owner of a respected dance studio in Johannesburg for the last 18 years, he has honed his skills by learning new dance styles and mastering the latest techniques. He has made a name for himself in the Salsa, Bachata and Kizomba communities and is renowned for his skill and style. As a creative personality, Ali is known for his fun-filled energy and warmth, and his belief in emphasising the fun and enjoyment of dancing.
