Fredy Garcia Batista
better known as FredyClan, studied at the ‘Escuela Nacional de Arte’ (ENA) and at the ‘Instituto Superior de Arte’ (ISA) in Cuba and graduated each as best of the year.
Since then he has been working as a dancer and choreographer for various productions in theatre, television, film and music in Cuba and in many other countries all over the world.
Many well-known names of Cuban and international artist highlight the path of his career. Compay Segundo, Oscar De Leon and La India to name just some of them.
In the beginning of the millennium ‘Carlos Manuel y su Clan’ have been number one of the Cuban groups for around five years. In those years Fredy performed for them as choreographer and dancer and whole Cuba was dancing the choreographies from ‘Carlos Manuel y su Clan’.
Carlos and Fredy became close friends and at this time Fredy created his stage name ‘FredyClan’.
Amongst others Fredy also worked with La Charanga Habanera and Bamboleo. Performing as dancer as well as organizing the shows as choreographer he participated in many of their national and international concerts.
With Alexander Abreu, the bandleader of Havana D’ Primera, Fredy studied arts in Cuba. Since then they are like brothers and so they always enjoy working together as they recently did on tour with ‘The Bar at Buena Vista’.
Besides this Fredy also has a successful career as a teacher.
Private lessons, workshops, courses, festivals or congresses, one student or 100, absolute beginners or professionals – he does not want to decide what he likes more. Each type of lesson is a different kind of challenge and requires its own special methodology of teaching. To see the students having fun and to observe their progress, fills him with pride and gives his work meaning.
Born and raised in Serbia in 1989. She began her dance training in “Allegro”, private ballet school in her home town(1995.). Studying dance was always her passion, therefore she started exploring different dancing cultures very young.
The music school “Kosta Manojlovic” (1998-2004) gave her knowledge about rhythm and sound. She learned how to play instruments and how to use the music in her advantage within dance.
Experimenting with Ballroom dance, she joined “Step” dance competition and in few months won II (second) place in junior category improvisation. Her first modern dances classes, Bojana attended at age of 13.
Age of 14 Bojana started with Cuban salsa classes. She had various instructors and mentors and believed the salsa music Is what brings her dance harmony it needed.
Encouraged by children in her home town, at the age of 16 Bojana started teaching hip hop. Two years later she registered her dancing school “Ays dance crew”. Projects she directed with children: “Home page”, “It’s my time” and “8th Sin – The confession”, talked about the feelings, situations and frustrations of everyday life in shoes of a dancer.
Part of the projects was danced by children with physical impairments she had a pleasure of teaching.
Bojana choreographed dancing parts and performed as one of the characters in alternative theatre group PATOS: “Le petit prince”(2006/7), “Bureaucracy” and “The City” (2006/7) – directed by Suncica Milosavljevic; “Medea” – directed by Saska Rakef.
2010 she traveled to New York to attend The Hip Hop Dance Conservatory Intensive program.
Dance form and the perfect movement pace she was thought matches with the harmony of sound of music she dances to.
Since November 2015. She’s been working with FredyClan and Fclan Entertainment company as a representative and a dance instructor of Cuban Salsa.
Her dance is impacted by Indian, Latin, Arabic and African culture.
Despite her young age, her teaching abilities made her pedagogy appreciated for years now. Her artistic assets, human qualities, energy and poly-valence made her popularity grow with time.
